We need you! . . . . . focus group to inform the development of a new short stay residential support service in Essex.

The Essex Carers Network are hosting a focus group for families who may like to feed into and inform the development of a new support service for adults with learning disabilities that Essex County Council are undertaking, in order to better serve the residents of Essex.

This new support service will be a short stay, residential service to support adults described as having complex care and support needs whose current care and support has broken down, or they are returning from an out of county setting (e.g. residential school) and need robust conversations and planning around their future.

The new service will aim to remedy those situations where someone is in need of a temporary safe and robustly supported environment after a serious event that means that they cannot stay at their current residence at this time, followed by planning for move on to a more appropriate support setting or potential return to previous accommodation if this can be done safely.

Essex County Council are currently working on the service specification and gathering information around key requirements for this service, and they are keen to hear from families, to listen to their views and experiences and to gain a better understanding of things that are important to families of adults with disabilities. This will help shape what the service will look like.

The focus group will be held on 21st February 2022 from 1 – 3.30pm with a 15 minute comfort break in the middle.

If you are interested and available on the day please join the conversation. Book your place by emailing info@essexcarersnetwork.co.uk the session will be on zoom.

We really hope if you have something to say about what this new service should look like to you will come along to the session.
