Care Technology - How can it help you?

Essex Carers Network recently met Simon from Essex County Council’s TEC Team. He explained the offer his team are able to share through a series of workshops with families, highlighting tech such as free Smart Home Devices, Careline services, Medication Management systems and many more.

We were keen to highlight that as a network, we felt that technology could not be a substitute for care and support, and we were vocal in sharing some of our family’s hesitations around this kind of support. Simon was understanding but encouraged us to ask families to be curious about technology as a useful addition to support different aspects of life such as communication and connections, supported autonomy which can increase confidence and safety in the home.

We know technology is ever evolving and we will continue to connect with the TEC team to share unpaid carer’s voices. We will highlight to our network innovations we feel will help family carers to continue in their caring role.

Simon Williams, Essex County Council’s TEC Transformation officer will be touring the county via the Essex Library Network delivering the workshops for carers.
