Easy read is a way of making written information easier to understand, by using plain English with no jargon, shorter sentences and supporting images. Its aim is to help people, particularly those with learning disabilities, to understand information more easily.

Disability Strategy- Essex County Council Disability Strategy
Essex County Council’s Disability Strategy sets out what they will do over the next four years to support people with a learning disability.

Essex County Council - Shaping My Future
Essex County Council commissioned a guide for people with a physical disability, impairment or long term condition. Launched in 2023 with Essex County Council and the Meaningful Lives Matter team, the guide, written by Together Matters, offers planning tools, templates and information to help people make changes and plans. teamShaping My Future
National Disability Strategy
The UK Government has an easy read version of the National Disability Strategy, produced by Easy Read Online.
It is rather long, at 32 pages, but can be printed off in parts.
I'm Thinking Ahead
I’m Thinking Ahead is an easy read guide to planning for the future. Produced by Together Matters, it can be used together with the Thinking Ahead family guide to support people with a learning disability to have their views and opinions heard when planning for the future.
